Carmel Valley belongs to four school districts:
- Poway Unified School District, which includes east part of Carmel Valley
- - Del Mar Union School District is an elementary-only school district, serving grades K - 6, and includes these schools. Boundaries include most Del Mar addresses west of I-5, and neighborhoods south of Via de la Valle. Portions of Carmel Valley with a San Diego address are also in this district, and is the area where the district's growth is highest. The boundary map is a .pdf file on this page. You can also call the district office to verify a specific address at (858) 755-9301, ext. 3680. A section of Carmel Valley south of Via de la Valle is in the Solana Beach School Distrist. It's best to check the map first, then call the office to verify the specific address.
- - San Dieguito Union High School District is a middle and high school district, and includes these schools. For those residing in Carmel Valley, the middle schools would be Carmel Valley Middle School, Earl Warren Middle School, or Canyon Crest Academy (by lottery only). The high school is Torrey Pines High School. To see the boundary of the school district, check page 1188 of the Thomas Guide - look for the thick purple line going north-south around square H4 - H7 - anything west of the purple line belongs to Carmel Valley. To the east of that line is the Poway school district, including Westview. The boundary information and map are here. The schools feeding into this district are listed here. Yuo can call the district office to verify an address, at (760) 753-6491
- - Solana Beach School District is an elementary-only school district whose boundaries are on this map, and includes these streets. In general, it covers the areas north of Via de la Valle to the lagoon, all the way to the ocean to the west, and a few miles inland. From the boundary map, it appears that most of Carmel Valley is in this district.
